30 Percent Organic by 2030 — Lehmann Natur Engages in Dialogue with Retailers and Producers at Fruit Logistica and Biofach

The BMEL’s 30 percent target is ambitious—and rightly so. This is because, particularly in the agricultural sector, there is significant potential for reducing emissions through the transition to organic farming. Thus, the 30% target offers the opportunity to accelerate and further develop organic farming toward greater resilience and resource conservation. If not now, then when? To harness this potential and engage in active exchange and dialogue on the topic of “Resilient Agriculture,” lehmann natur looks forward to welcoming you at Fruit Logistica and Biofach.

Organic farming is not only essential for preserving biodiversity, but also sequesters more carbon in the soil than soils in conventional agriculture. A recently published study by the Technical University of Munich also found that organic farming results in lower nitrogen emissions. In short, anyone who wants to actively combat climate change and spare society the costs of environmental impacts has no choice but to pursue the 30% organic target and a transformation of agriculture.

To manage crises, it is important to be flexible and find solutions. Lehmann Natur, an importer and specialist in organic and Demeter fruits and vegetables, focuses on long-term partnerships and close ties to producers in the countries of origin. Measures are also being tested to achieve resilient agriculture, and solutions for the trade sector are being developed to collectively move closer to the 30% target and drive a transformation toward greater climate protection.

In addition, lehmann natur looks forward to discussing and providing information on the following topics at Fruit Logistica in Berlin (February 7–9) and at Biofach in Nuremberg (February 13–16).

About Lehmann Natur

lehmann natur is an importer of organic, Demeter, and permaculture-certified fruits and vegetables. Based in Meerbusch, the company has been committed since 1988 to making it possible for all consumers to enjoy healthy, ecologically sustainable, natural products of the highest quality.

To ensure that its high standards for quality and sustainability are met even in its logistics operations, the company operates its own 100% organic packing facility at its Korschenbroich location. Since 2021, the seed brand LEHMANNS Bio-Saaten has complemented the company’s product range and underscores its commitment to thinking organic from the very beginning.

With its two farms in southern Spain, Friedrich Lehmann successfully practices climate-positive agriculture in accordance with permaculture principles and views this as a model for the agriculture of the future. In addition, the company promotes biodynamic agriculture and assumes social responsibility throughout the entire supply chain.
