While many consumers are familiar with the orange Demeter logo, they don’t know exactly what it stands for. They wonder: What does biodynamic farming mean? Do Demeter products taste different from conventional ones? How do animal welfare, nature, and the climate benefit when a farm switches to biodynamic farming? And what actually makes a Demeter banana so sustainable?
The Demeter Truck delivered—not only answers to these questions, but also enjoyment and entertainment for young and old alike. With logistical support and fresh Demeter fruits and vegetables from lehmann natur, the truck toured Germany from Friday, August 24, through Wednesday, September 4. During the tour, it visited select EDEKA and Kaufland stores in North Rhine-Westphalia, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Brandenburg, Berlin, Bavaria, and Baden-Württemberg.
“With its eye-catching presence, the Demeter food truck has sparked the interest of many customers. Tasting the diverse range of products provided a great opportunity to start conversations about biodynamic farming and processing, thereby building trust. “We plan to continue offering similar events with retailers in the future to educate people about the unique qualities of Demeter products and thereby encourage informed purchasing decisions,” concludes Gottfried Willmann, who heads the Market Department at Demeter.
