Resilient Agriculture – lehmann natur at Trade Shows: Fruit Logistica & Biofach 2023

Hopeful, promising agricultural solutions and optimistic plans for the future—with this conviction, lehmann natur, an importer of organic fruits and vegetables, Demeter and permaculture standards, will be exhibiting in February at the industry-relevant trade shows Fruit Logistica in Berlin and Biofach in Nuremberg. Why? Burying one’s head in the sand and scaling back organic production cannot and must not be a solution, because the need for resilient, sustainable agricultural systems is becoming increasingly clear. The theme lehmann natur hopes to discuss with producers and food retailers at the trade shows is “Resilient Agriculture.” This brings together the core topics of the organic importer from Meerbusch: organic and biodynamic agriculture, permaculture, and heirloom seeds.

Food prices are rising, and organic sales are declining for the first time. At the same time, an ever-growing number of consumers and retailers are interested in making crisis-resilient and sustainable food sourcing a reality in the future. To achieve this, one resource is particularly essential: healthy soil. Healthy soil sequestersCO2 and produces high-quality, nutrient-rich food. Various farming methods can be used to create such soil and bring about this transformation. For example, organic and biodynamic farming promote biodiversity and soil health. Permaculture builds on these approaches and takes them even further. In permaculture, key objectives such as the conservation and promotion of biodiversity, CO₂ sequestration in the soil through humus formation, and resource conservation through water retention basins are pursued and implemented. All of this makes permaculture an agricultural practice capable of solving a variety of problems.

But what exactly is resilient agriculture? And why does Lehmann Natur continue to rely on permaculture?

To continue discussing these topics and their implementation with industry experts, lehmann natur looks forward to seeing you at Fruit Logistica 2023 in Berlin from February 8–10 and at Biofach in Nuremberg from February 14–17.
